Why We/I Fight MS

Having multiple sclerosis (MS) means that you may suddenly have blurry vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. Or that you may not always be able to walk. The symptoms of MS are different, and often devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.

Join me at Walk MS!

Why I Walk (will use wheelchair)

I've registered for the Wisconsin, Brown County - Walk MS 2008 because I want to do something for the people who have been diagnosed - and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from learning what it means to live with this disease. Today, there is no cure for MS, and with diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability.

Why You Should Sponsor Me

The National MS Society - Wisconsin Chapter will use funds collected from the MS Walk to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs and services which address the needs of people living with MS today. Because we can fight this disease by simply walking, because we have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to the MS Walk, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, "You have MS."

I DID IT! WALK 2008
It was a beautiful day and so many came out for the event.
Interesting for me was it was at the high school which none of the doors were handicapped accessible. Wonder who else realizeed this? Yes, with out hesitation someone opened and held the door for me in my wheelchair. It was nice when the Senator came up and said hello and said this is for you. I have more time to accept donations and hope we keep it going.
There are walks coming up in more towns so please consider one that is near you.

Newest Treatment Strategy
Please feel free to leave your comments! Hi and thanks for donating and taking a look at the page. The neurologists disagree on the onset of the disease but that really does not matter now. Back in the 80's I fell asleep on the couch and woke up with everything from the waist down numb. About two months of rehab with physical therpy I was fine. Could of been the initial onset. (by one neurologist) Then in early 2000 I began falling and my right leg seemed to get heavy right away. (onset by another neurologist) Well from there it was Fybro,RA,knee replacement, bulging disks, back surgery, etc. But never could get it right. Did herbal for 2 years. Nope, only short temporary relief. 6 years later MS finally diagnosed! Secondary progressive MS. There are different types.
My newest diagnosis is Primary progressive and I have a new neurologist to help me be pro-active and attack this disease. My new neurologist is Dr. Gary Miller.
It looks as if it will be Tysabri or Novantrone. Will let everyone know the final outcome. For me it is time to stop the Betaseron injections every other day and move on to another treatment.Tysabri is most likey next. It is administered at the hospital every four weeks. It is not a cure it is to slow the progression hopefully.
My spirit remains unbroken,
Sharon
