Why We Fight MS

Having multiple sclerosis means that you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day. You never know what the next day will bring and that is one of the scariest things in the world to wake up to!

Why I Walk

I've registered for the MS Walk because I want to do something for the people who have been diagnosed - and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from learning what it means to live with this disease. Today, there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, and with a diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability. I walk for Andrew, Jason, Nathan, Elizabeth and my mother in law that I never got to meet. She died from the disease when the only way to treat it was a nursing home. I walk for my husband, I will not fade away before his eyes like his mother did! I walk for them! I walk so that should any of my children come down with MS that they have a chancce to be cured. So they do not suffer, so that my friends with MS can see their children grow, graduate, marry, have children and live a complete and happy pain free life.

Why You Should Sponsor Me?

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use funds collected from the MS Walk to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs which address the needs of people living with MS today. There are days I can't say my kids names, or cannot tell you what the washing machine is, I will tell you the wrong meaning for a word that I know, I stutter and forget in a heartbeat what I am saying and have hang my head in embarrassment. I have spasms and tremors and sometimes cannot even dial a phone number or hold my daughter or pick up a piece of paper. I cannot comprehend the smallest things some days like the change I should get back from a purchase, or something someone is saying that is plain as day, but for me I don't understand it. There are times I cannot swallow without choking, walk with out falling, or breath without struggling, I never know from day to day what my life is going to be like. I wake up praying for a better day! You sponsor me and you will see me give my blood, sweat and tears to get to the finish line! You will see me fight and help me win this battle within me!
