BodYWise Women is a 6 week series focused on women’s health and body image and the associated emotional, social and physical impacts. The goal of BodYWise Women is to empower participants with information needed to implement positive changes in attitude and behavior. The series will expand the definition of beauty and health for women, improve health and nutrition literacy, increase positive body-esteem, and provide lifestyle skills for making healthy choices and changes.

Women are bombarded with body image ideals and health information that can detract from their quality of life and often consume valuable mental and physical energy. Many women strive to find answers to such questions as:

  •  Who and what defines my definition of “healthy?”
  •  How do I determine which definition and what information is both accurate and beneficial?
  •  How does the way I see, talk about and treat myself affect my relationships with others?

Class Topics Include:

  • Culture, Women and their Bodies: Benefits and Barriers to Change
  • Eating, Emotions and Environments
  • Body Image and Media Influence
  • Nutritional Literacy: Fact and Fiction of Food
  • Choosing Healthy Relationships
  • Healthy Diet and Exercise Behaviors for Every Age and Stage

2013 Program Cost: $60. 00 (6 week series 90 minute sessions)
