"Aging and MS" Regional Teleconference
At Home Teleconference

Aging and MS: Dr. James Bowen of Swedish Neuroscience Institute will address the issues of MS and aging, including age and disability related difficulties, relationship changes, cognitive changes, and effects on employment and Medicare. He'll conclude with advice to help people remain optimally functional as they age.

Dr. Jim Bowen is a neurologist and the Medical Director at the MS Center at Swedish. He joined Swedish in 2009.

Dr. Bowen is a Board Member for the National MS Society and has also served on the Greater Northwest Chapter's Clinical Advisory Committee, chairing the committee since 1999. He is also on the National Clinical Advisory Board of the National MS Society and chaired the Scientific Peer Review Committee "C" for the Society until 2010. He was inducted into National MS Society's Volunteer Hall of Fame in the Health Professional and Researchers category in 2005 for his contributions. He currently serves on the national client educations committee of the National MS Society.

Dr. Bowen's research interests include a variety of aspects of MS research including clinical trials of new treatments. He is also involved as a peer and ad hoc reviewer for numerous publications and has authored more than 200 articles, abstracts and publications relating to MS and other neurological diseases.
