Have you had a recent fall? Are you afraid of falling?

Falls are very common among people with MS and are often associated with injuries and negative impact on quality of life.

Contact us to learn more about our new fall prevention program —
“Free From Falls” A Comprehensive Fall Prevention Program for People with MS”.
This 8-week curriculum is designed for people living with MS who are able to walk (alone or with one cane, walking stick or crutch) but who may be at risk for falling.

Discussion, exercise, group and individual activities are elements of this engaging format where you will learn about:
*fall risks, tips and strategies to reduce risk for falling
*engage in a specially-designed fitness program designed to enhance balance and safety. A supportive group atmosphere and expert instructors will help each participant develop a personal plan to reduce risk, improve confidence and maximize safety.

Each week’s 2-hour program will have two parts; a discussion component focused on awareness of issues related to falls and an exercise component directed to improving postural alignment, balance, endurance and mobility.

Week 4 – March 14, 2013
 Classroom Lesson: Managing Energy
 Exercise Lesson: Understanding Gait & Flexibility

Week 5 – March 21, 2013
 Classroom Lesson: Staying Safe at Home
 Exercise Lesson: Understanding Functional Fitness

Week 6 – March 28, 2013
 Classroom Lesson: Staying Safe in Your Community
 Exercise Lesson: Impact of Functional Exercise on Everyday Activities

Week 7 – April 4, 2013
 Classroom Lesson: Recovering Safely If You Fall 
 Exercise Lesson: Falling & Getting Up Safely from the Ground

Week 8 – April 11, 2013
 Classroom Lesson: Putting It All Together
 Exercise Lesson: Maintaining Better Balance;  Reassessments

You can improve your confidence, safety and mobility and reduce your risk of falling!

An application and other registration materials will be provided.
