Research: Where Are We Now, Where Are We Going?, NCC


Join us on Tuesday, September 10th from 7:30-8:30 p.m. EST for our teleconference "Research: Where Are We Now, Where Are We Going?"  During this teleconferences participants will learn: what is happening in MS research and what is on the horizon, what we know now about treatments that have come on the market in the last year and how to connect with clinical trials.

Speaker: Mary C. Chervenak, Ph. D., Central NC Chapter Research Advocate

Dr. Mary Chervenak is a graduate from Rhodes College, with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry; Mary went on to receive a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Duke University. She also completed post-doctoral research in Physical Organic Chemistry at the University of Alberta. Mary is currently employed at Arkema Coating Resins where she works as a chemist in Research and Development.

As the Central North Carolina Chapter’s “Research Advocate,” Mary reads and interprets the published literature describing research and other advances in the field of multiple sclerosis.  She fundraises and volunteers at various events associated with the Society because a close family member and several friends cope with MS every day. Outside of community service, Mary also runs with a local running club and is a spin instructor at her local gym. Recently, Mary participated in the Blue Planet Run, a worldwide relay through 16 countries.
