Epilepsy Pill May Protect Against MS-Related Nerve Damage

A phase 2 clinical trial co-funded by the Society showed that a medication commonly used to prevent seizures in epilepsy protected against nerve damage in people with MS. On average, those who received the medication phenytoin had 30% less damage to the nerve fiber layer in the eye compared to those who received placebo.
