General Information

How much is it to participate in MuckRuckus MS?
Registration Fee: $50
**In addition to the non-refundable, non-transferable registration fee, each participant is required to raise a minimum of $100 to participate in MuckRuckus MS. All proceeds benefit the National MS Society.

Who can participate in MuckRuckus MS?
Anyone who is up for the challenge and is over the age of 14 on the day of the event can muck it up for MS. This 5 mile challenge course is demanding and participants are encouraged to train for the event.

When does registration close?
Registration closes at 5 p.m. the Wednesday before the event. Participants that want to register after Wednesday can register the day of the event for a $100 registration fee and they must have their $100 minimum fundraising amount. All participants and day of event registrants must arrive 1 hour prior to their wave times.

Is there a deadline for fundraising?
Yes, the deadline for fundraising is November 30, 2012

Where is MuckRuckus MS located?
Serenbe in Palmetto, Ga

How long is MuckRuckus MS?
The challenge course is 5 miles and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete depending on the number of participants and your ability and fitness level. As you run the course, you will have to wait from time to time at some obstacles.

How deep is the water and muck?
The depth is different from on challenge to the next, mostly ranging from 1 to 6 feet. All challenges 5 feet or deeper will have certified lifeguards on duty.

Will there be medical support on site?
Yes, EMS will be on site to handle any minor injuries or illness that may occur the day of the race.

Will there be anything for the kids to do?
There will be a kids' area with plenty of opportunities for the little ones to get play in the muck too!

Can my friends come to watch?
Absolutely! There will be viewing areas for them at the best challenges, as well as vendors on site for purchasing food and beverages.

How do I get clean after completing the course?
The fire department will be on site to hose you down after the run, however you will want to bring a few towels and a change of clothes for the finish line celebration and ride home. There will also be gender-specific changing tents available.

Will there be food available?
Participants will get snacks and beverages, including beer after the run. There will also be concessions for sale for spectators and participants.

What time does the run start?
The first wave will begin at 9:30 a.m. Waves are in 30 minute increments. Please run in the wave time you choose during registration.

I’m not a runner, but want to be involved! Are there options for me?
Absolutely! There are several ways to get involved as a volunteer and we need you.

How long will the course remain open?
The course will be open until around 2 p.m. This allows the final wave to finish.

Are walkers welcome?
Walkers are welcome for the recreation division. Competitive division participants are encouraged to run the entire course. If you are unable to run, this is fine, just be aware of the runners around you and please sign up for the recreation division.

I have a family member who wants to run across the finish line with me, but is not registered. Is this allowed?
No. Only officially registered participants, volunteers and officials are allowed on the course. If you do not have a run number, volunteer t-shirt or official credentials you will be asked to leave the course. There will be plenty of spectator viewing areas for you to cheer on your family and friends.

Will I be able to register the day of the run, and will there be a cap on registrations?
Day of run registration is available this year. Runners may register online through the Wednesday before the event. Registration on event day is $50 plus your $100 fundraising minimum. There is no cap on registration.

How do I know if I am registered?
You will receive an e-mail confirming your registration.

I am unable to confirm my registration or my registration confirmation contains an error. What should I do?
Please call the National MS Society at 678-672-1000 to report the error. Visit the Check-in tent at the event if your error occurs the day before the event.

When and where do I pick-up my run packet?
We are offering day of check-in. Please arrive 1 hour before your wave time to receive turn in last minute donations, pick up your running packet, and receive your timing chip.

I am injured, pregnant, or no longer able to attend the run. Can I get a refund?
Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. But feel good that 100% of run proceeds go towards cutting edge MS research, and programs and services for people affected by MS.

Can I give/sell my registration to another person?
No. Registration is non-transferable from one person to another.

Can I change my run registration to a different wave?
Yes, email your request to Laurie Palmer.

How can I visit my page?
Visit MuckRuckusMS.org/Atlanta and click on ‘My Account’, enter your username and the password you set up during registration.

My page isn't working, how can I get help?
Email a description of your problem to jared.miley@nmss.org. Our team will help troubleshoot the problem.

Where can I enter cash or check donations I've received?
Mail all offline donations to the National MS Society (1117 Perimeter Center West, Suite E101 Atlanta, GA 30338). Our staff will validate the offline donation and the value will credit to your fundraising account.

What is the fundraising deadline to be eligible for fundraising incentives?
Our fundraising campaign will continue through November 30. The top fundraiser will be announced after the event.

The Mucky Run

Will you cap registrations?
No, we will not cap registrations. However, each wave will accommodate 350 participants. If a wave exceeds this amount, we will close the wave and offer additional waves.

How many people are on a team? 
A team can be a minimum of 2 participants. There is no maximum amount of team members.

How do I register a team?
Team Captains may register online. To find out the benefits and responsibilities of forming a team and being a team captain, download the Team Captain Guide. 

How will be our team receive an official time?
Each competitive team will be timed as a team. A timing chip will be given at check-in. Your official time will only be counted if you cross the finish line together.

Can I add someone to my team if one drops out?

MuckRuckus Day-of Event Info

What do I do when I arrive on the day of MuckRuckus?
Pick up your packet and check your keys and/or ID for free. Stretch out and prepare yourself for the most challenging fun you have ever had.

What do I wear?
We recommend wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes (ANY shoe that can be laced up to cover and support the ankle). All participants are encouraged to be creative with your team names and clothing.

What time does the event start?
The first wave will start at 9:30 a.m. and the event will continue throughout the day.  When registering, participants choose their wave based on their participation type. We suggest arriving at least 1 hour before your start time so you will have time to park, pick up your packet, and check any items you don't want to carry with you during the event.
