It Takes More Than Money To Make the World Go Round

Neil Cavuto
Neil Cavuto

Neil Cavuto has navigated the ultimate route to happiness: live your life doing good, because it is a lot more important than having a lot of fine things. Cavuto, the host of the No. 1 business news show on cable, Your World with Neil Cavuto, is following his golden rule. Just a decade after beating cancer, Cavuto was diagnosed with the life-altering disease of multiple sclerosis in 1996. After his diagnosis, he began thinking less about himself, and instead spent his time searching for meaning and a greater understanding of how others go through pain and difficulty. In seeking inspiration in other's stories, Cavuto found the strength and courage to face his own challenges and achieve success.

Today, he not only hosts his own extremely successful show on the Fox News Channel, but also serves on the cable network's executive committee. He has also recently chronicled the stories of those who inspired him to live a more meaningful existence in a New York Times best-seller, More Than Money: True Stories of People Who Learned Life's Ultimate Lesson. Among those admired by Cavuto and mentioned in his book is David Lander aka "Squiggy", who at first kept his MS a secret from the rest of Hollywood. Lander, much like Cavuto, ultimately decided that he could accomplish more by sharing his story with others.

Ranking among the most influential business journalists in America by The Journalist and Financial Reporter, Cavuto has shown that no matter what life hands you, you can always pursue your dreams. He has given others hope and instilled in them the importance of a support system and a positive attitude. Cavuto has given recognition to the National MS Society, serving as a judge for the Society's Public Education Awards program, among other things.

Despite his overwhelming success, Cavuto has not lost sight of what is truly important. He currently lives in Chester, New Jersey with his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Tara. While he acknowledges that it is quite an achievement to have a book on the New York Times best-seller list, it is helping to enhance the lives of others, such as people with MS, that makes him feel truly successful.
