Below is an edited version of the email sent to registered MuckFest MS Baltimore runners.

Due to insurmountable complications in the permitting process we have no choice but to postpone MuckFest MS Baltimore until the fall, 2013. Despite recent positive progress and momentum in our planning process, there are some jurisdictional obstacles that are just too big for even our team to overcome. It's disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the delay. Postponing an event is always a last resort, and we do so reluctantly, and only when we have exhausted all other options. We thank the good folks at Trail-Way Speedway for their willingness to host our event, and wish that together our teams could have overcome the hurdles that came our way.

Before we found the site in Hanover, PA, we approached over 150 sites in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. metro areas and our requests were denied 150 times. Ordinarily, it's challenging finding any site with at least 400 acres of land to accommodate our five-mile course, and a landowner who will allow us to move in heavy machinery and excavate the site. However, finding a site in the densely populated metropolitan Baltimore-D.C. region has been an extraordinary challenge that many obstacle and mud events have not faced, and that we have not encountered with the other 17 events in the MuckFest MS series. Despite this, we are confident that with a little more time we will find another great location in the region.

Next steps
Between now and the fall, we will be working to secure a site. (It usually takes about 60 days for permits to be submitted and approved.) The good news is that fall should be absolutely perfect for a MuckFest MS in the mid-Atlantic area -- not too hot, not too cold, but just right. We will keep you updated with our progress.
