NOW THAT'S SOME MUCK MAGIC, CHICAGO!
The third MuckFest MS Chicago proved to be magical, and we're not just talking about the team of furry unicorns who turned up at the start line. First, this was the biggest MuckFest MS Chicago yet, with over 3,000 muckers, 165 volunteers, and thousands of spectators who watched and cheered in-person and via Facebook Live. BIG THANKS to all who attended, especially those who traveled a far distance to be there; we had great representation from across the Midwest as well as muckers from all over the country!
Despite a brief spell of rain and wind (Windy City, right?), this Midwestern Muck-Spectacle shone brightly from start to finish. There were awesome-looking teams decked out in truly original team shirts and get-ups. Tons of mud turned out to be no match for your tidal wave of muck-thusiasm and team spirit.
Sticking with that big theme, put your hands together for the biggest team of the MuckFest MS season across ALL EVENTS: Team AbbVie, who brought over 220 muckers and volunteers on Saturday. They're not only our nation-wide sponsors, they are great supporters of the cause, and we were thrilled to see so many stop by AbbVie's MS Will Knot Defeat Us tent to inscribe a shoelace in support of a loved one with MS.
Special thanks to all our returning muckers and their teams, including Erin Dorn and her Mudskippers who led the way again this year for individual and team fundraising. Erin, you and your team are truly Muck Stars!
Thanks to our other national sponsor, Traveler Beer, who refreshed the MuckFestival with their ultra-tasty grapefruit and pumpkin shandys. It was a great way to celebrate the day and welcome the fall season!
A special shout out to the awesome volunteer captains and the volunteers from Clissold School. You and all the volunteers and volunteer captains, from the parking lot to the finish line, helped make that muck-magic happen. We couldn't do it without you. And thanks Lake County Fairgrounds—you guys get a first place blue ribbon in the category of Event Host.
Thank you for coming out and making the 2016 MuckFest MS Chicago such a great success. We would like to thank all the runners, volunteers and staff who came out to run, help and support each other this weekend. Every day of the year, we work hard to support people living with multiple sclerosis.
There is still time to support the mission behind the “muck”. We've made incredible progress so far and we want to keep that momentum going after the event. Make a donation online or call us.
