MuckFest FUN Mud Run Set to Muddy Up Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Chicago, and Denver

Family-Friendly Mud Event Welcomes All Skill Levels to Experience the Most Outrageous Obstacles Ever

Today, the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society and Event 360 announced that the 2019 MuckFest FUN Mud run event series will take place in Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Chicago and Denver. MuckFest is a 5K mud obstacle course that requires no training and is for any level -- from the beginner to the star athlete. MuckFest can be experienced for the pure fun of the obstacle course and participants are also encouraged to raise funds for the National MS Society to help people living with multiple sclerosis.

Registration for the events is now open at www.MuckFest.com.

The 2019 MuckFest events will take place in:

Boston – Saturday, May 18
Philadelphia – Saturday, June 8
New Jersey – Saturday, July 20
Chicago – Saturday, August 17
Denver – Saturday, September 14

The cost to register is $105 with discounts for early registration as well as for verified military members, first responders and government employees. Group ticket packages are also available. Registration is free when a participant becomes a “Mucker on a Mission” and commits to raising a minimum of $250 for the National MS Society. Registration includes a MuckFest t-shirt, race day photos, a snack bag, and (if you’re over 21 years old) a free beer.

“MuckFest is all about bonding with your besties in the mud and muck. And we’re so thankful for the thousands of Muckers who also use MuckFest as an opportunity to raise awareness and money to help those living with MS and ultimately help fund research to end MS once and for all,” said Liz Strawn, Senior Director of MuckFest MS & Special Events, National MS Society.

Since MuckFest started, more than 175,000 participants have raised over $30.7 million for MS research. 100% of the funds raised goes to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s efforts to bring an end to MS and to help those currently living with it. A new study shows twice as many people in the United States are facing the challenges of MS than previously thought. Now more than ever, we must accelerate our efforts to help the nearly 1 million people with MS live their best lives and end this disease for good.

Incredible photo and video opportunities are everywhere at MuckFest. Get ready to capture the moment when your co-worker slithers through the Belly Crawl and for your boss to eternally remind you that she was the one who conquered the Walk on Water obstacle. Share the memories of that amazing jump your dad took into the Crash Landing inflatable stunt pad. Imagine the exhilaration of racing your brother up to the top of the mighty Mt. Muck-imanjaro or seeing if you can jump further than your sister from the giant Swing Set. Or picture your fiancé slithering through the Tunnel of Love or the two of you holding hands as you slide down the Slippy Sloppy obstacle. Preview all 18 MuckFest obstacles here.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age on the day of the event. Participants who are 10 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or on-event guardian. The ratio of guardian to minor-aged runners is 1 to 3. The event is free to spectators, and kids under 10 years old also have their very own play area named Lil’ Muckers where they can splish and splash. After the event, participants gather in the MuckFestival area to celebrate their efforts out on the course with a free beer or soda.

About Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms vary from person to person and range from numbness and tingling, to walking difficulties, fatigue, dizziness, pain, depression, blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. A recent study led by the National MS Society estimates that nearly 1 million people are living with MS in the United States; twice as many than previously thought.

About the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The Society mobilizes people and resources so that everyone affected by multiple sclerosis can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever. Last year, the Society invested $35 million in MS research with more than 340 active projects around the world. Through its comprehensive nationwide network of services, the Society is focused on helping people affected by MS connect to the people, information and resources needed to live their best lives. We are united in our collective power to do something about MS now and end this disease forever. Learn more at nationalMSsociety.org.

Early and ongoing treatment with an FDA-approved therapy can make a difference for people with multiple sclerosis. Learn about your options by talking to your health care professional and contacting the National MS Society at nationalMSsociety.org or 1-800-344-4867.

The MuckFest MS Fun Mud Run Series Hits Dirty Thirty

$30 Million Raised for National MS Society with a Lot of Mud & Muck

July 23, 2018 — With a giant zip line, slip and slide, and a whole lot of mud and muck, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Event 360 are ecstatic to announce that since its inception, the MuckFest® MS event series has now raised $30 million to move us to a world free of multiple sclerosis. The money raised goes toward research and finding breakthroughs to help change the lives of those living with MS. We have one goal: to end MS forever.

The fun mud & obstacle 5K event series started in 2009 and has since been a huge success, drawing participants from across the country. This year, the 7-city series started in spring with Boston and Philadelphia. There are still five remaining events this season in New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, and Dallas. Registration is open at MuckFestMS.com.

“It’s all about our mighty Muckers, who pour their hearts and souls into raising money to help fund research and to help those living with MS. The MuckFest MS fun mud runs are also about showing that you can live with MS and its challenges, but you can also still have a life filled with joy and laughter,” said Liz Strawn, Senior Director of MuckFest MS & Special Events, Development, National MS Society.

“We are proud to hit the dirty thirty! Our recipe for a successful MuckFest MS event is simple just add dirt, water, extraordinary obstacles and a community that is committed to helping end MS forever,” said Slade Thompson, Account Director, Event 360. “We’re proud of our MuckFest MS participants, volunteers and staff for helping us reach this amazing milestone.”

“It’s simply astounding what happens when the MuckFest MS community comes together: many small efforts lead to achieving enormous milestones. My team is surpassing the $100,000 fundraising mark in our fifth year of participating in MuckFest MS, and we are so proud of our small contribution to this incredible $30M milestone. Knowing that we are helping people living with MS and fueling the research needed to find a cure, all while we have a mucktastic time playing in the mud, is the best reward of all,” said Michael Pierce, Board of Trustees, National MS Society, Colorado-Wyoming Chapter, and Team Captain, Muckin’ for Michael’s Mom.

Team Captains Jenny Roberts and Ali McGreal shared, “Our team, Greatest Show on Dirt, has participated in this event every year since it first started in Colorado eight years ago, raising almost $184,000 to date. It has been exciting to watch MuckFest MS grow into the event it is today. As a top fundraising team every year, we are excited to be a part of this $30M milestone and are grateful to all of our supporters, to all the MuckFest MS teams who worked hard to raise money and awareness, and for the continuous hard work and support from the National MS Society. Congrats to all on this fundraising milestone!”

PLAYING IN MUD PAYS OFF FOR THE NATIONAL MS SOCIETY - $25 MILLION RAISED

The MuckFest® MS Fun Mud Run Series Hits Major Fundraising Milestone

CHICAGO–November 1, 2016—The National MS Society and Event 360 are proud to announce that since its inception, the MuckFest MS event series has raised $25 million to help fight multiple sclerosis. The money raised goes towards research and finding breakthroughs to help change the lives of those living with MS. The goal is to one day find a cure to end MS forever.

The fun mud & obstacle 5K event series started in 2009 and has since been a big success with more than 40,000 participants from across the country. This year, the 11-city series started in May with Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Denver, Detroit, Twin Cities, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, and Dallas. There is still one remaining event this season, MuckFest MS So Cal. Registration is open at www.MuckFestMS.com.

“MuckFest MS engages people who want to do something about MS in a fun and muddy way. We are so grateful that we have been able to raise $25 million in funds and grow awareness towards our mission of ending multiple sclerosis forever,” said Rachael Nuwash, National MS Society.

“We are proud that MuckFest MS events have been so successful in raising funds and awareness. This money is used to continue research efforts and help find a cure for MS. We hope that people will do their part by participating and fundraising,” said Jim Hennessey, Director of Consumer Marketing, Event 360.

“This cause and event are so close to my heart,” said Michael Pierce of team Muckin’ for Michael’s Mom, which has teams in Denver, New Jersey, and Houston. “I love MuckFest MS because it inspires us and others to make a difference in the lives of people living with MS, like my mother. The event is a blast, and we’re making a huge impact through our fundraising.” In 2016 alone, this team has raised more than $30,000 to end MS forever.

Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide.

About the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The Society mobilizes people and resources so that everyone affected by multiple sclerosis can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever.

To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. Last year alone, through our comprehensive nationwide network, the Society devoted $122.2 million to help more than one million individuals connect to the people, information and resources they need. To move closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested $54 million to support more than 380 new and ongoing research projects around the world.

Early and ongoing treatment with an FDA-approved therapy can make a difference for people with multiple sclerosis. Learn about your options by talking to your health care professional and contacting the National MS Society at nationalMSsociety.org or 1-800-344-4867.
