The National Capital Chapter would like to thank our participants, volunteers, teams, sponsors, media partners, and staff who made Walk MS such an overwhelming success. More than 5500 participants, 549 teams, and over 400 volunteers partnered with the National Capital Chapter over two beautiful weekends. All together, we brought in more than $950,000 that will fund programs and services, as well as research for a cure.

This year marked the 26th Annual Walk MS, presented by Booz Allen Hamilton in Bowie, Manassas, Reston, Rockville, Waldorf, and Washington, D.C. We are so grateful for everyone who came out to show their support and help move us closer to a world free of MS. We look forward to seeing everyone next year, at the 27th annual Walk MS event!

Are you looking for other ideas to continue your fundraising throughout the year? We have some additional fundraising ideas to help you get there.

• Neighborhood Picnic: You and your team can host a neighborhood picnic and charge a small fee to attend. Utilize the picnic to educate and raise awareness about multiple sclerosis. If you need materials to hand out, just contact us and we will gladly email you some resources!
   
• Restaurant donations: Reach out to any of your favorite or local restaurants and inquire about donating a percentage of the pre-tax sales generated on a given date. You could discuss setting up a special day like “ORANGE HAPPY HOUR” Fridays or MS DISHed DAY!
   
• If you have any unconfirmed gifts listed in your account, send in those donations.  Unconfirmed gifts are not counted as a part of your fundraising total until we receive them in the office and confirm them. Log into your Participant Center and double check your list of unconfirmed gifts. 

Thanks to you and your fellow walkers, you’ve made it possible for us to continue assisting approximately 6,500 people in our community who are living with MS. We can’t thank you enough for participating in Walk MS 2014!
