Route Information
Day 1 of our new route offers three different, but equally beautiful, cycling options for our rides. Our 65 and 100 mile riders begin their journey at the Civic Center in picturesque Santa Monica and head north, experiencing sweeping ocean views, rolling foothills and some challenging, but rewarding hill climbing. Our 30 mile riders will start and end their day at San Buenaventura State Beach in Ventura, where they will join the 65 and 100 milers for an evening of food, massages, music and fun! Stay the night in one of our host hotels, or set up camp by the beach.

Riders head out on Day 2 after enjoying a hot and delicious breakfast and continue north up the beautiful central coast with 35 or 50 mile routes. Celebrate your accomplishments as friends, family and volunteers cheer you across the finish line at your final destination: Santa Barbara.

Camping Information
- Camping with be provided at no cost to participants for the night of Saturday, October 11th at San Buenaventura State Beach Park.
- Motor Homes / Campers are not allowed. Tents only (two person tents please)
- Permitted camping gear includes the following:
- Tent (two person max.)
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad
- Pillow
- No chairs, stereos, stoves, or other camping supplies are permitted
- Limited spaces are available; please make sure you selected camping as an option at registration. If not, contact a Bike MS staff member to update your account.
- Tents (two person max.) can be set up as early as 8:00am on Saturday, October 11th. You will check in at the campsite area with a NMSS staff person.
- All campers will pay $10 for overnight parking upon entering the park.
- No vehicles will be allowed to re-enter the premises after Sunset (6:00pm) on Saturday, October11th. The park closes at this time. If you plan on taking your vehicle out of the park and returning after park closure, please take note that you will need to find street parking, which can be difficult.
- You can go into town after 6:00pm by walking the bike path or calling the local cab service (805-659-6900). They can pick up / drop off at the park entrance.
- Tents must be broken down by 8:30 if you are riding or 10:00am if you are not on Sunday, October 12th or before you leave for your ride. Tents should be loaded onto the luggage transportation trucks to be transferred to Santa Barbara
- Dinner and drinks will be provided by NMSS at the campsite for participants.
- Absolutely NO Campfires allowed.
- Please keep your Alcohol ID bracelet attached if you plan on consuming alcohol at the campsite.
- No glass bottles will be allowed on the beach.
- No amplified sound is allowed.
- Quiet hours are from 10pm to 6am
- 65 and 100 mile cyclists: Bring your camping gear to the start line in Santa Monica and put it onto the luggage trucks to be transported to Ventura. Please try to consolidate your belongings into no more than 2 bags.

Shuttles
After finishing Bike MS Coastal Challenge: Santa Monica to Santa Barbara on Sunday, October 12, if you intend to take our shuttles back to Ventura or Santa Monica, you must purchase a voucher. Shuttle vouchers are non-refundable and can be purchased on-event for $30 at the Info Tent (Santa Monica), Volunteer Check-In Tent (Ventura), and Bus Tent (Santa Barbara). Your bike must be checked in to the bike transportation moving trucks immediately upon arrival to Sunday’s finish line; your rider number must remain on your bike for transportation. You are responsible for loading your own luggage on shuttles. Grab a snack and cold drink and relax as you get transported back to your car.
Since bicycles are returned in moving trucks, and participants return on shuttles, please be patient if your bike arrives at a different time than your shuttle.
All shuttles to our local partnering hotels are FREE on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Hotel shuttles will run on Saturday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 5:15 - 7:30 a.m.
Alternative Transportation
If you don't want to take the Bike MS shuttle that is provided, we encourage riders to have friends and family meet them at the finish line and transport them back to their starting location after enjoying the Finish Line festivities. There is also a nearby Amtrak station (1.5 miles from the finish line) that allows bicycles. Transportation to and from the Amtrak station is not provided. Visit www.amtrak.com for more information.

Santa Monica Civic Center: Saturday Sunday parking available. $5 per day.
San Buenaventura State Beach: Saturday & Sunday parking available. $10 per day with no overnight parking (excluding camping participants).
Santa Barbara Finish Site: Santa Barbara City College hourly parking lot available. Additional paid parking available at Leadbetter Beach.
Luggage
If you start in Santa Monica, drop off your luggage upon your arrival and luggage trucks will transport your belongings to San Buenaventura State Beach where you can pick it up Saturday afternoon. If you are taking the shuttle back to Ventura or Santa Monica on Sunday, make sure to load your luggage on the shuttle before boarding.
