Young People May Hold Key to Solving MS

Just 10 years ago, many clinicians did not realize that multiple sclerosis could occur in children. We now know that 2 to 5 percent of people with MS begin to have symptoms before age 18. Pediatric MS is the focus of ongoing studies that also explore the effects of environment, diet and genetics.

New Obesity Study Confirms Findings

A recent study of two large populations confirmed that adolescent obesity may increase a person's risk for later developing MS. The risk increased substantially in people who carry a certain gene previously linked to MS.
