MS Clinical Care Connection
A Resource for Healthcare Professionals
Multiple sclerosis and resilience
A person can bounce back from difficult challenges with relationships, finances, health or any of the myriad of life stressors to find happiness and life satisfaction.
A recent study determined that people with MS develop resilience through psychological adaptation, social connection, life meaning, planning ahead and physical wellness.
The Resilience: Addressing the Challenges of MS (a collaboration between the National MS Society and the MS Society of Canada) can help your patients enhance their resilience. The program includes a book, video and in-person programs in various locations throughout the United States.
MS Navigator for your patients
The Society’s MS Navigator® program helps individuals and families manage the challenges of MS—no matter where they live. Call 1-800-344-4867, visit nationalMSsociety.org/navigator for live chat or email ContactUsNMSS@nmss.org.

Highly skilled MS Navigators:
Connect people to the information, resources and support services needed to move their lives forward.
Provide information about MS, referrals to healthcare professionals and emotional support.
Provide referrals to our case management service through the Edward M. Dowd Personal Advocate Program. The Society contracts with and oversees local case management professionals to provide short-term interventions, home visits, comprehensive assessment, development of clear goals, monitoring of progress against goals and assistance with accessing services, benefits and community resources.
Access to Complex Rehabilitation Technology
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued new guidance that protects access to complex rehabilitation technology (CRT) power wheelchair accessories by excluding them from Medicare’s Competitive Bidding Program. CRT refers to medically necessary products that require intricate programming, personalization and evaluation such as power wheelchairs and wheelchair accessories (including head support systems, specialized seat cushions, and tilt-and-recline systems).
