Investigators nationwide are recruiting children, including those with early relapsing-remitting MS, for a four-year study to determine environmental and genetic risk factors that make children susceptible to developing MS. The study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, leverages the Society’s support of the Promise: 2010 Network of Pediatric MS Centers of Excellence.

When Abby West’s MS forced her to leave her job as activities director in a skilled nursing facility, her son Timothy was inspired to become a neurologist and MS specialist. Today, Dr. West, who just completed a Society-sponsored fellowship at UCSF, is director of the brand-new MS Program at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas.
