My fight against MS
I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) 18 months ago. At first, I was devastated by the diagnosis, but I quickly discovered how fortunate I am. First of all, my MS has been diagnosed very early on, improving my chances to intervene in it's progression. Secondly, my symptoms to date have been mild and have largely disappeared. Thirdly, there are many drugs being developed and tested that may, in my lifetime, significantly improve my life - and the lives of many others too.
One of the best ways I can help battle MS - and even turn my life around - is by participating in the Waves to Wine bike ride, a 150 mile ride from San Francisco to Sonoma. Not only is the training phenomenally good for me, but in addition, through the sponsorship of friends and family, I can contribute much needed funds that will support the development of new drugs - because, while there is hope, there is not yet a cure for MS.
How you can support me
If you can sponsor me for this ride, at any level, I truly appreciate it. Your sponsorship will help me over every hill and across every mile. And, I'm confident the money will be well spent, helping millions of us to live a good life with MS while continuing to seek out a cure.
If you can't sponsor me, I appreciate that too, and will ping you again next year!
About MS and the National MS Society
MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. The Society addresses the challenges of each person living with MS. In 2008 alone, through the national home office and 50 state network of chapters, nearly $126 million was devoted to programs that enhanced more than one million lives to move us closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested more than $46 million to support 380 research projects around the world.
