Join the Mitzvah Milers as a rider or donor as we gear up for our 6th year of participation at Waves to Wine! We are enthusiastic, supportive, and inclusive, and consistently a Top 3 team in both size and fundraising. With over 40 riders at Waves to Wine each year, the Mitzvah Milers have raised over $225,000 to date for the MS Society. 2008 was our most successful year yet, as we raised $53,500 from 653 donors, placing us 2nd for fundraising and as the top non-corporate team by over $10,000! With your support, we can do even more to help those with MS this year!
Come join us on a gorgeous one or two day fully supported ride of between 40 and 175 miles with fun-loving cyclists at a wide range of skill levels. Those riding with the Mitzvah Milers for the first time at Waves to Wine will receive a free team jersey! New riders at Waves to Wine will also not have to pay the registration fee. Just come ride the distance of your choice and meet the event’s very doable $350 minimum fundraising requirement by sending out e-mail messages asking your friends and family to contribute to this worthy effort. Please contact Captain Dan Siegel for more info at mitzvahmilers@pacbell.net
Who are the Mitzvah Milers? We are 200 predominantly Jewish cyclists from throughout the Bay Area who share a love of cycling and building community. We treasure our diversity, drawing members from over two dozen synagogues, from renewal to orthodox, and the unaffiliated. Our members’ skill range is from intermediate to advanced. We participate at event rides throughout the Bay Area, and have ongoing casual rides in the East Bay. For current ride information, join our growing e-mail list by contacting Club Captain Dan Siegel at mitzvahmilers@pacbell.net There is no fee required to be part of the Mitzvah Milers.
Dan formed the Mitzvah Milers six years ago as a way to do something positive and empowering after being diagnosed in 2002 with MS just two years after his mother, Joan, passed away after a long battle with MS. Fortunately, Dan's symptoms have remained mild and he has been able to ride 150 miles at Waves to Wine for 7 straight years. Please join Dan to help make a difference in the lives of those with MS, including 12,500 in Northern California, and 400,000 in the U.S. The MS Society funded $46 million last year for research towards finding a cure for this often devastating disease. Let's help them do even more. Thank you!
