Bike MS: Bay to Bay 2017

Spokes For Hope 2016
Spokes For Hope 2016

Spokes for Hope

Team Spokes for Hope is looking for team mates to ride SoCal's 'Bay to Bay MS 150' the weekend of October 21-22.  We ride to stand in solidarity with our loved ones battleing Multiple Sclerosis, raising money for cure-reseach and daily living support. In 2016 we raised $18,000 for the cause. Team Captain, Dave Wright, has ridden the 'Bay to Bay' for his wife Lynette for the past 7 years, joined by his sons and co-workers last year. The coming 2017 ride is shaping up to be a wildly successful event, so don't miss-out and commit to the cause today!

Routes from 25 to 100 miles per day suite riders of any ability, with many Team Spoke Hope riders reaching 150 miles over the weekend. Day 1 of the long route is 60 miles (coastal and flat) followed by 40 miles (inland and hilly), finishing in the seaside city of Carlsbad. A celebration of food, fun, music and massages is hosted by the ride hotel, Sheraton Resort & Spa in Carlsbad (book early if you plan on staying here). Day 2 follows PCH to San Diego's Mission Bay--food, massages and awards conclude the event.

Please consider showing your support of Team Spokes for Hope, Lynette, and others with MS by donating or participating in the event!!!! (Fundraising Minimum = $400; Free Registration for first-time riders, use code "t2ride").

Event Information: Transporation and Accomodation.

  • The 100 & 150 mile routes both finish in San Diego on Sunday the 22nd.
    • If you don’t have someone to pick-up both you and your bike, there is a bus that will take you back to the start in Irvine;
    • Your bike will go into a FedEx truck, wrapped-in padded moving blankets and loaded with other bides;
    • Cost is $20  for both you and your bike;
    • If you use the bus/truck option, event organizers suggest getting your bike to the truck as soon as you finish, then spend time eating/massaging, etc before you get on the bus.  That way your bike may beat you back to Irvine so you won’t have to wait for it;
    • You can register to just ride now using the discount code and add the bus/truck option later if you can’t get transportation arranged.
    • I have never used the bus/moving truck option as my wife Lynette joins me in Carlsbad on the Saturday night and then picks me up near at the finish in San Diego.  I hope to do this again this year.
    • Some also ride to the nearest train station which goes directly back to the start.  Need a reservation and it books early.
  • Official ride hotel is:  Sheraton Resort & Spa
    • (760) 827-2400
    • Ride rate is $219.  Book as soon as you can to secure a room and the rate;
    • This is where I’m staying.  It’s easy, plus there’s food, music and  massages!
    • There are all the other hotel chains in the area as well.  Check the website to see which other hotels will have shuttles running to and from the Sheraton as this is the end of day 1 and start of day 2.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the event, donating or Team Spokes for Hope!
