Bike to Create a World Free of MS !
Having multiple sclerosis means that you may suddenly have blurry vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. Or that you may not always be able to walk, let alone ride a bike. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.
Why I Ride
God has blessed me, my wife, and our 9 year old daughter with good health. I ride because I enjoy riding. Getting up early and cycling for a few hours is one of the most relaxing activities that I can think of. The exercise helps me maintain the body that God has given me in top shape. I can not think of a better reason to ride 172+ miles on Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th than to raise funds for this worthwhile cause. That is to find a cure for this horrible, devastating disease. This is why I've registered for the 2009 Bike MS: PGA TOUR to the Shore. I want to do my part for the people who have been diagnosed - and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from learning what it means to suffer day after day with this disease. Today there is no cure for multiple sclerosis. And with diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability.
Why I Am Asking You To Sponsor Me
This bike ride is a race but not in the normal sense of the word. There are no prizes for the rider or team that finishes first. The whole purpose is to take a safe leisurely ride and finish back in St. Augustine on Sunday. We are expecting a turnout of over 2,000 riders for this event. Most of us are not Olympic class athletes. I don’t normally ride a total of 172+ miles on a Saturday and Sunday but this is very special. The “race” is to see how much money each individual rider and team can raise. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use the funds that I help collect from good, generous people like yourself to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs which address the needs of people living with MS today. Because I can fight this disease by simply riding a bike, and because we have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to Bike MS, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the absolutely frightening diagnosis, "You or a loved one have MS." If you can not sponsor me, at this time, please forward this or mention what I am doing to anyone who you think might be willing to help me reach my goal. Thank you, Greg Taranowski
