Multiple sclerosis affects millions of people including our loved
ones families friends and co-workers. That's why I've registered for
Bike MS. Bike MS is a ride (not a race) that brings us together to
make a difference and each mile we ride brings us closer to a world
free of MS.

So why do I ride…. Well imagine this…..

On my bike, my body is screaming at me, my feet are numb, my legs hurt and I am sweating, yes I am sweating. I sometimes doubt that I can do 150 miles. Why did I sign up for Bike MS 150? Am I crazy? I am 46 years old and not in the best shape. What is the matter with me??? Those are questions that run thru my brain as I am struggling to finish 33 or 40 miles and I think oh my goodness I have 150 miles to do! I am a hairdresser! It is my passion and my pleasure to create. What am I doing riding this bike???

The only thought that pushes me through is Dana.

I met Dana in 2002, we worked together for 12 1/2 years.  I have watched Dana struggle to come to work and perform as a hairdresser all these years. Dana had several setbacks such as breaking her shoulder, being in a car wreck which broke her back and Multiple Sclerosis is taking over her body.

Dana loved her job so much she worked one day a week on her clients from her wheel chair. “I love my job, I love the fact that I create an image on a person that they wear proudly daily. It is therapy to come to work and do hair.” Dana tells me this as we are talking about her retirement. Dana retired January 2014 due to the progression of the MS.

So why do I ride??? I Ride for Dana..

I ride for Dana and other people who need assistance, dedicated research and a society to help them survive with Multiple Sclerosis. I count my blessings that I am physically able to pedal the bike and ride in honor of her. I am asking you to donate to Bike MS to further the research and assistance for those with Multiple Sclerosis. You can donate at our salon or via the link below. If donating is not for you forward to a friend who may donate.  Please say prayers for all of those who have Multiple Sclerosis and other diseases that the medical community is fighting to find cures.

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable often disabling disease of
the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information
within the brain and between the brain and body. Millions of people
are affected by MS and the challenges of living with its unpredictable
symptoms which range from numbness and tingling to blindness and
paralysis. The progress severity and specific symptoms of MS in any
one person cannot yet be predicted but advances in research and
treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.

Your gift helps support cutting-edge research and programs and
services for everyone impacted by MS. Ending MS means no one will hear
the words "You have MS" ever again. Every dollar counts!

I have been training since November 2013. I was so out of shape when I first started... My husbands Aunt gave me a vintage exercise bike, I got on it and could not even do 1 mile ugghhhh!!
I rode every chance I could on that exercise bike until I reach 10 miles comfortably. Then I went in search of my road bike. I found one!!! In March I started to ride on the road, total different experience than the exercise bike. I was back to 5 miles and worn out ugghhhh! I have kept at it since and now I am comfortable at 40 miles on two consecutive days!!!! So excited that this training has gotten me healthier and our team will be riding to raise money for MS that touches my life so deeply. xoxoxox
