Ride With me to eradicate Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis aka disseminated sclerosis or encephalomyelitis disseminata is a progressive neurological disorder that affects people in many different ways. Patients afflicted with MS could be suffering paralysis one day, loss of vision the next or impaired memory the day after that. Living with MS means living with complete uncertainty.
According to Wikipedia, MS affects the ability of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to communicate with each other. Imagine having to live without a properly functioning Nervous system?
It is startling to know how MS is affecting the people: An American is diagnosed every hour of every day Many people are joining the movement toward a world free of MS including me.
There is no known cure for MS, but scientists are working to find one and rid this world of a deadly disease.

Why I Ride
My first introduction to MS was in 2005 when I received an e-mail from an Australian Biker, Ralph Dixon, who was setting out on a motorcycle journey from Sydney to London. What the mail didn't mention was that Dixon was an MS sufferer and that this was an International Charity Motor Cycle Ride. Later when I visited his website ‘We Ride 4 MS’, I realized the enormity of the situation and the courage of Dixon in undertaking this endeavor. I marveled at Dixon's courage and decided that when I get an opportunity I will do something for MS sufferers.
Now couple of years later I have got this chance, and that too, an opportunity to participate in one of my favorite activities - long distance cycling - and help MS Sufferers.
Though I have not ridden a bicycle during the past 10 years, I've registered for the Bike MS: SAM'S CLUB Ride to fulfill a personal challenge, and also to help the National MS Society fund research, advocate for change and help people with MS and their families lead powerful, happy and fulfilling lives.
I believe that it is only thanks to societies and support groups such as the National MS Society, that MS afflicted people are able to come out in the open, discuss their problems, and live a normal life. I am in total agreement with the work of National MS Society and want to be part of it.
Can I count on your help?

Let’s Move Forward Together
Every year the National MS Society organizes over 100 Bike MS events across the US. These events have a two-prong approach: offer an opportunity for people to get together and enjoy a bike ride and also raise funds for research aimed at treating and eventually finding a cure for MS.
National MS Society also conducts activities centered around education, information, direct financial aid and scholarships to individuals and families living with MS.
Last year (2008) the MS Society raised over $2 million during this ride. This year I hope to pitch in and reach a higher goal because I am certain there are several people out there who care and want to give! I have made a modest pledge to raise a sum of $300 during the next couple of months and participate in the 160-mile Bike Ride from Frisco to Fort Worth.
I’m helping the National MS Society move forward toward a world without MS. Please join me on this mission!
