Team Marathon has been riding in the Louisiana MS 150 for almost a decade. Since 2008 we have raised over $100,000 for the Louisiana chapter of the National MS Society, and we strive to increase that number every year.
While we have had a large team the past two years, the August flood and a September Turnaround at our plant made riding in 2016 impossible. Now that we have completed our turnarounds, we are ready to get back on our bike and re-establish our tradition of supporting the MS Society!
Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling, disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Millions of people are affected by MS and the challenges of living with its unpredictable symptoms, which range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.
The Marathon family in Garyville, LA believes in the National MS Society's cause to find a cure and rid the world of MS. Our team is composed of Marathon employees, family, and friends from across Southeast Louisiana and across the entire Marathon organization. We ride because we are able, we fundraise because we care, and we Bike MS because it's our way of showing support. We welcome all donations and all riders regardless of background or ability level.
