Bike MS: Country Roads Ride is a two-day cycling adventure offering three route options: 120 and 150 mile road routes and a 120 mile trail trek along the entire length of the Greenbrier River Trail. Bike MS: Country Roads Ride begins at The Greenbrier, a national historic landmark, featuring classic architecture, exquisite interior design, carefully sculpted landscape, impeccable service and outstanding amenities. Next a day of riding, then Cyclists will be treated to a delicious meal, massage, entertainment and a Saturday evening program. After an early Sunday morning breakfast, everyone is back on the road, headed to The Greenbrier’s North Lawn for a finish line celebration picnic catered by The Greenbrier.
Cycle through Scenic West Virginia
The Road Ride takes cyclists through the scenic area of Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties in southern West Virginia. Sneaking a peak at Senator Rockefeller’s country side home and riding through Greenbank Observatory, our road cyclists take in some of West Virginia’s most beautiful territory. Road cyclists then pedal to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, located at the foot of Snowshoe Mountain in the heart of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, in the middle of the Monongahela National Forest.
Greenbrier River Trail Route
The Greenbrier River Trail has been called West Virginia’s premier rail-to-trail conversion. The miles fly by when you are immersed in nature as only the Greenbrier River Trail can do. Trail riders have the option to experience every inch of the 80 mile abandoned grade trail from Caldwell to Cass..
Both routes include fully-stocked rest stops every 10-15 miles, a great lunch stop each day and safety provided by volunteer EMTs, HAM radio operators, support and gear drivers and bicycle repair from our partner bike shops. Unlike racing events, this event is designed to provide a scenic, challenging route for both the experienced cyclist and the energetic novice. You will finish with a great sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that you’ve done something to help end MS!
