Why I fight MS
Having MS means you live a life of unpredictablity. Will I be able to see tomorrow, feel tomorrow, think tomorrow, WALK tomorrow? I fight MS because everyone with MS, including myself, have those thoughts, knowing there is yet no cure. I fight MS so that no one else will have to hear a doctor say, "You have Multiple Sclerosis," as I did in 2002. I fight MS, because even children as young as 3 have been diagnosed with MS~~and I can't imagine them living their ENTIRE lives with this disease.
Why I Walk So Far
This will be my 10th (TEN!) MS Challenge Walk--3 in Washington DC, and 7 in SC.. Why do I walk so far? 7 years ago, I started in part because of an ad I saw that read "Think of all the things you miss if you didn't believe in trying again." So I tried it, and against all odds, I completed it! Am I a glutton for punishment? Nope! I find the Challenge Walk a continuing source of inspiration to me to keep fighting MS. I walk for all my MS friends who can't even walk to their mailbox, much less 50 miles. I will keep on walking as long as I am able or until there's a cure!
Why You Should Sponsor Me
This event is a challenge - and an opportunity - for everyone involved, participants and donors alike. With commitment to this cause, we can all be part of a historic undertaking. The funds raised from the MS Challenge Walk will not only support research for a cure, but also provide programs which address the needs of hundreds of thousands of people living with MS right now. Because we choose to walk for those who sometimes can't. Because we choose to donate to the MS Challenge Walk, we are getting ever closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, "You have MS."
