Why I Participate:

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS. In November, 2010, I was one of those people.  That's why I registered for the April 6, Walk MS event. Walk MS is a day that connects friends, families, and coworkers.   Each step we take brings us closer to a world free of MS.  This will be our second year walking in Los Angeles.  Our first year we walked in New York.  Each year more family and friends joined us in our MS Walk.  It is so wonderful to have this support and see our group grow.

About MS

I am asking you to support me in Walk MS to help me and others like me.  Each day I wake up wondering if today will be a good day or not.  Days that are not so good thankfully are not many.  But when they do happen I know that I have the support of my family and friends.  It is this support that helps me every day.  My support team constantly reminds me to take it easy, to rest, to drink plenty of water, to wear my cooling neck tie, etc.  I even braved the heat of the Grand Canyon in hot, hot August and survived the hikes with support and constant reminding of my family and friends!

Millions of people are affected by MS and the challenges of living with its unpredictable symptoms. Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and it stops people from moving. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, a disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.

Please support me!

Your gift helps provide local programs and fund cutting-edge research. In 2011 I became part of a research grant to look at the connection, if any, between MS and Vitamin D.  The results of this research will not be known for several years, but I was pleased to be asked to be one of the subjects and participate.  Participating is important.  Your donation puts us closer to realizing our promise to STOP MS in its tracks, RESTORE lost function and END MS forever. Ending MS means no one will receive an MS diagnosis again. Every step matters.  Every dollar counts.  Every person makes a difference.

Your support is important whether it is a donation, joining us in Pasadena on April 6th for the walk or me knowing that I can count on your when I need you.  Thank you all!
