Thank you again for your support and understanding as we made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend’s Baltimore City Walk MS event. We know how much you look forward to this annual event and we share your disappointment, but as we monitored the situation in Baltimore Saturday night we knew we had to put the safety of our volunteers and participants first and foremost.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to reschedule this event any time in the near future. The City of Baltimore has a very full event calendar –especially during the Spring months – and the permitting process alone takes several months to complete. Coordinating the logistics for an event covering many city streets over a 3 mile course requires extensive planning with many agencies and outside vendors, and after careful review, we do not believe rescheduling a Walk this year is feasible.
We still want to have the opportunity to personally thank all of you for your dedication to our mission and to hand out the prizes that so many of you have earned through your fundraising efforts.
We are looking into hosting a Walk MS Baltimore Celebration at a restaurant in downtown Baltimore in the coming weeks. We will have T-shirts and elite feet prizes to hand out to all walkers who qualify. Look for more details to be announced this week.
If you are unable to join us in person, we encourage you to mail any remaining donations to our office at 2219 York Road, Ste. 302, Timonium, MD 21093. You are also welcome to stop in our office to pick up your prizes.
Thank you again for your support and dedication to a world free of MS. We hope to see many of you soon to thank you in person, and we also look forward to seeing you next year at the 2016 Walk MS event in Baltimore.
