Walk MS: Columbia 2017

My team is out walking and I am waiting to give them a big hand!

St Michaels Angels

Why I, Bob Noe, have a team and want to build support for fighting MS

I have had MS for 16 years and it began as a somewhat mild case. I only had some pain in my feet and legs but for about 5-6 years, with good meds, I could do most things. As the years moved on, I had more pain and disability every year, but I try to manage it all. Today I am really beginning to feel the ravishes of MS. I need a cane if walking too far. My balance, pain and cognitive impairment are getting worse. I am learning other things MS does to the body, but I am managing. If you do not see me walk, I look healthy just a little too fat around the middle. This is the problem with most MS folks..."You look good!" is what we often hear. I am till running my support group here in Columbia and I think we may have the best group in Columbia. I have cut back my MS Chapter responsibilities considerably this past month.

I really appreciate your support of belonging to our team. The MS Greater Carolinas Chapter would like for you to contribute. I do as well, but it is not that necessary. I really want you to understand MS for me and others in our community. Last year our team was number one of the 40 teams walking. We had more members and raised more money. Woo Hoo

We will have a T Shirt for the contributors this year with a new design!

Our goal—a world free of MS.

We've formed a team for Walk MS—a charity walk that is changing the lives of people with MS and helping fuel progress toward a world free of MS. We'd love your generous support as we prepare for this incredible experience.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. MS is different for everyone, and that makes it all the more challenging to solve. The first Walk MS event was in 1988, and since then more than $920 million has been raised for research and programs to improve the lives of people living with MS. Today, there are treatments where there weren't any before, and the dream of ending MS is becoming a reality. But there is still so much to do.

That's why we're walking. We've set an ambitious goal because we know with support from people like you, we will have a great chance at reaching it. The money raised will drive groundbreaking research, provide life-changing programs and guarantee a supportive community for those who need it most. This cause is really important to us, so we hope you can do your part to help end MS forever.

Will you help us reach our goal by donating what you can?

About MS

When you make a donation, you are changing the world for people affected by MS. Symptoms of MS range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide, and there is not yet a cure. Every dollar raised matters to those affected by MS. Thank you for your support.
