January 11, 2016
Beginning on January 11, it’s our chance to thank you for becoming a team captain and helping us end MS forever.
Recruitment Challenge: The Team Captain across all events (Bike MS, Challenge Walk MS, Walk MS) who registers the most team members from Jan. 11-17 will win a pair of Cardinals tickets to a mutually agreed upon 2016 game.
We ride rain or shine. In the event of lightning or other dangerous conditions, we will delay the event until conditions improve. Please watch for weather-related updates via email and on the event website.
No problem! Email us at FundraisingSupport@nmss.org with the name of the team you'd like to join and we'll get you all taken care of.
We will gladly accept walk-up registrations. However, Bike MS is a fundraising event and all riders must turn in the fundraising minimum to participate, so register early to give yourself time to fundraise.
Cyclists must be 12 years old or older by the start of the event and minors are required to be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times. No child carriers, tag-alongs, or Burley-type trailers are allowed. All cyclists under the age of 18 must provide a notarized waiver. Please FundraisingSupport@nmss.org to request a waiver.
All Bike MS registration fees are non-returnable and are non-transferable to another year or to another Bike MS ride.
YES! For your own safety, helmets are required at all Bike MS events and training rides. You will be removed from the route if you are not wearing a helmet.
Family and friends are always welcome at our start and finish locations, however not on the route! Please encourage your friends and family to meet you at the finish line, or to volunteer for the event.
We prohibit personal vehicles on the route and in or around rest stops. We provide plenty of Support and Gear (SAG) vehicles to transport any cyclists in need.
Pets are prohibited at the ride, however, service animals are welcome.
Please visit the Lodging & Transportation page for information on securing accommodations.
The money you raise for Bike MS funds groundbreaking research focused on stopping MS progression, restoring lost function and ending MS forever. It also supports programs and services helping people affected by MS live their best lives. Learn more
All Bike MS riders must turn in at least $300 by 09/10/2016 in order to ride. The more you raise, the bigger the difference you're making for people affected by MS.
The last day to mail in donations and have them count toward the $300 minimum is TBD. After this date, if you have not yet reached your minimum, please bring any donations with you when you pick up your packet. If you have met your minimum, you may mail in any additional donations you receive.
Everyone who makes an online donation will receive an e-mail confirmation receipt for tax purposes. Donors that give $250 or more (including via check) will receive a thank you letter and receipt by mail. If you have a cash donor requesting a receipt, download it here. All donations made to the National MS Society are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law For donations less than $250, the IRS will accept the following as proof of a charitable donation: a canceled check, bank or credit union statement, or a credit card statement.
If you receive a check payable to your team, please write "National MS Society" above. If it's made out to you, please endorse the check payable to the National MS Society. Be sure to include your name, the event in which you’re participating and the year in the memo line of all checks (example: Joe Smith, Bike MS 2016).
Mail your donations (made out to NMSS) with a completed Donation Tracking form to Gateway Area Chapter - Bike MS, 1867 Lackland Hill Parkway, St. Louis, MO 63146. Please be sure to write the participant’s name, event, and event year in the memo line of all checks (example: Joe Smith, Bike MS 2016).
If you have not turned in the minimum donation by the start of the event, the National MS Society will discuss payment options with you, including charging the balance on a credit card. No need to stop there, though - you have until TBD for your fundraising to count toward prizes
Prize redemption instructions will be provided via mail or email following the prize deadline. Please watch for details.
Yes, you can donate your prize back to the National MS Society by becoming a member of the Mission First Club.
There may be a 3-4 week delay entering donations during peak event times. Your total may be inflated if you entered donations as offline gifts. Please log back in at a later date to check your fundraising total. If you have additional questions about your fundraising total, please contact us at FundraisingSupport@nmss.org.
It may take up to 3 weeks for all of your donations to be credited to your Participant Center. If you'd like to see your donations right away, please encourage your supporters to donate online or mail your donations to your local office immediately upon receiving them.

A matching gift is a gift from a donor's employer that matches the donor's original gift. Most employers match dollar for dollar.
Search for your employer, ask your human resources staff, or visit your company's intranet.
The first step is to talk to your employer about their matching gift process. Generally, your human resources department is a great place to start.
Refer to the instructions on the matching gift form. If you need to mail or fax the form to us, please use the following information (please include the participant's name and event):
National MS Society, Gateway Area Chapter
1867 Lackland Hill Parkway, St. Louis, MO 63146
Fax Number: 314-432-2307
Email Address: email@example.com
No, they are two separate gifts. Please enter only the employee's gift and mail/email the matching gift form, and we will enter the match.
Check the "Progress" section of your Participant Center. It usually takes months before we receive matching gifts; however, even though they are not yet paid, you will receive credit for matching gifts for prize purposes.
Yes, if you have submitted the required documentation and the gift shows as pending in your fundraising totals, it will count towards your fundraising minimum.
