Route Update

Updated | April 24, 2017

Due to ongoing construction projects in Bastrop and Buescher State Parks, the roads are in disrepair. After careful consideration, we have determined that it is not safe for our cyclists to ride through the Parks on Sunday. Heavy trucks travel those roads seven days a week for ongoing dam construction and the roads will not be repaired until further notice. Cyclists will have the opportunity to choose the Bechtel Challenge Route and bypass the Parks or the lunch express route that merges with the Bechtel Challenge Route on highway 71 at 153. Your safety is our priority. Thank you for understanding.

#1 Team Spotlight

TXH 2017 BP MS 150 - Noble Drilling Participant

Noble Drilling is the Number 1 team!

View Team Leaderboard

Long before the bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush make their springtime appearance on the rolling hills between Houston and Austin, Noble's BP MS 150 team members are training to help fund important research aimed at making an impact in the lives of those affected by multiple sclerosis. Over the past few years, Team Noble Drilling has grown to more than 90 riders and family members participating as riders and volunteers. The BP MS 150 is Noble Drilling's signature fundraising event, and each year brings family and friends together to raise funds for multiple sclerosis. In 2016, the team raised more than $430k, and is working hard to better that in 2017.

The 2016 performance was bolstered by the teams' "Virtual Rider" program, which facilitated and encouraged participation by Noble's offshore crews. Ron Swan, Noble's Team Captain, said "I could not be more proud of all of the individuals offshore who helped make the Virtual Rig effort such a success." From successful bake sales, a golf tournament, silent auctions, and raffles to various other fundraisers, Noble's fund raising efforts are monumental.

Team Spotlight: The NRG Cycling Team

TXH 2017 BP MS 150 - NRG

The NRG Cycling Team was created in 2005 by a group of employees passionate about cycling and making an impact in their community. In its first year, 35 enthusiastic employees, family, and friends participated in the BP MS 150. To-date, the NRG Cycling Team has had more than 900 cyclists from across the company—and country—complete the trek into Austin with the support of over 175 NRG volunteers. In total, the NRG Cycling Team's members have raised more than $945,000 and are rapidly approaching the $1,000,000 milestone.

Team Captain Karen Hudak looks forward to the team's induction into the National MS Society's Circle of Distinction and Hall of Fame. "Being involved in the communities we serve is part of who we are as a company and as individual employees," Hudak said. "I am proud of all the team has accomplished since it began and am excited to celebrate and recognize all of the hard work and positive energy so many of our colleagues have contributed over the years."

TXH 2017 BP MS 150 - Steve Garret

Top Fundraiser Spotlight: Steve & Garrett Logan

Congratulations to Steve & Garrett Logan for raising over $32,000 so far for the 2017 BP MS 150!! Steve & Garrett are a father and son whose inspiration comes from their wife/mom who was diagnosed with MS in 2010. We appreciate their dedication to helping create a world free of MS through riding, fundraising, and Mary's commitment to being an MS Ambassador and a member of the Club 300/Superstar Sub-Committee.

Top Fundraiser Spotlight: Connor Martin

TXH 2017 BP MS 150 - Connor 2

Connor Martin is fundraising for this year's BP MS 150 with a special passion and achieving tremendous results, raising over $11,000 to-date! Connor has been a Superstar Fundraiser, raising thousands of dollars over the last 10 years he has participated in the BP MS 150. Every year since 2007, Connor has ridden his highly visible yellow tandem bike with his dad, Robert Martin; and, every year, Connor's mother, Kim Martin, and his sister, Carly, have been waiting at the finish line in Austin to celebrate Connor's accomplishment.

Robert has not been able to train with Connor because of his focus on providing care and support for his wife, who had been battling cancer for over 20 years. Early in the training season, while Connor was trying to figure out how to make his ride a reality without his dad, another special person came forward: Randy LeBlanc, a member of Connor's Schlumberger Cycling Club team, offered to train with Connor and to captain Connor's tandem in Robert's place on the BP MS 150.

TXH 2017 BP MS 150 - Connor

This is a very special year for Connor: He's dedicated this ride in memory of his mom, who sadly lost her over 20 year battle with breast cancer on March 18th. The entire Martin family is very appreciative of Randy's kindness and the outpouring of support they have received from everyone throughout this difficult time. Through it all, Connor has turned his mom's devastating illness and his passion for the BP MS 150 into an opportunity to bring hope to many who are affected by MS.

Team Spotlight: Team Spectra Energy

TXH 2017 BP MS 150 - Team Spectra

Team Spectra Energy's story began in 1998 when they were Duke Energy, and while their name may have changed over the years, the team has continued to be an active participant in the BP MS 150. Between 1998 and 2010, Team Spectra Energy raised $593,000 for the National MS Society! Then, over the next six years, they increased fundraising efforts and raised a total of $425,000. In 2016, the team reached an impressive milestone, raising $1 million!! Team Spectra Energy's goal has always been to help find a cure for MS. With their amazing riders and volunteers, they will continue to do so in the years to come.

Congratulations to Spectra for achieving over a million dollars in fundraising. The team jersey was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame at the National MS Society office celebrates those teams that have raised 1 million dollars cumulatively. Thank you Carl Williams for leading the team in this outstanding accomplishment.

Team Speedy Stop recently held a month-long fundraiser, coinciding with MS Awareness Month, by asking customers if they would like to make a $1 donation towards the National MS Society. If the customer agreed, a Speedy Stop employee scanned a pin-up which the guest could write their name on for display in the store. Speedy Stop raised $21,295 across 21 stores. The company will match dollar-for-dollar, for a grand total of $42,590 from the store fundraiser. Thank you Speedy Stop and owner C.L. Thomas!!
